CONTRIBUTE TO UNHCR RAMADAN CAMPAIGN

Enacting on the values of compassion, empathy and charity of the Holy month of Ramadan, YAL supports the UNHCR #HandInHand campaign which is an endeavour to address the refugee crises with the motive of ‘Leaving No Refugee Behind’. This support complements a community partnership between YAL and UNHCR initiated at the commencement of Ramadan. YAL invites you to donate your Zakat to this social initiative here, to leave no refugee behind, as we work towards a better tomorrow.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

YAL is committed to supporting refugees by partnering with the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Region for the Innovate For Refugees Competition in which Helen Al Uzaizi, YAL Member and CEO of BizWorld UAE, has been mentoring the non-profit startup 'Paper Airplanes'. PA provides free individualized skills instruction and support to those affected by conflict. Through leveraging the power of the internet, Paper Airplanes reaches young learners in need in Syria and rural areas across the MENA Region. Discover more.

'NCFilter' is another MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Region Innovate For Refugees Competition finalist that YAL is proud to support through the mentorship of Hiba Daaboul, Head of Regional Decision Support at Nestlé. NCF utilizes nanotechnology to develop off-grid affordable water filters for installation in refugee tents and rural areas providing potable drinking water through the use of micro nano-fillers developed from locally available waste materials. Hisham Sherif is a Senior Analyst at Investment Corporation of Dubai, the sovereign wealth fund of the emirate. Hisham’s focus in his current role is on private equity investments across various sectors and geographies. He has previously worked in the investment banking division at Moelis & Company in their London office and is an alumnus of Imperial College London having graduated with a First Class 'MEng in Aeronautical Engineering' Degree.

Jihad Srage is the SVP and President, Qualcomm MEA, Turkey and East Europe. Having worked with Qualcomm for 10 years, he leads the company's business operations in his current role. He was awarded by Forbes 'Top ''Global Meets Local" Executives - 2017' for the 3rd year in a row and holds an MBA from Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago.

Reim El Houni is the CEO of Ti22 Films and Dubai ON Demand. She has keenly extended her professional contribution to the direction of a promotional video featuring YAL Members, implementing her valuable insights. Reim has worked her way up in both corporate media and broadcast, from being a runner all the way to Executive Producer and now a Strategist and Consultant.

Yusra Al Hashmi is the Founder and CEO of Iqra'a Arabic Language Centre, a leading Arabic language education organization which has been playing a key role in the Arabic translation of the new website of Young Arab Leaders. Yusra is a successful educational leader with a vision of improving educational systems by driving innovation in various aspects of education management.

Mohammed Tayem is the Founder and Managing Director of Entourage Marketing and Events, the sponsor of the Ramadan Iftar, organized exclusively for YAL Members and other valued guests. He is also the Founder and CEO of the Tayem Group and has held senior positions across leading private and public sector organizations including Etisalat, UK Investments Group and Damac Properties.
