This is a joint initiative by YAL and Daimler to encourage dialogue between Arab students and managers from multinational companies based in Europe, focusing on knowledge exchange in areas of entrepreneurship, leadership development and education.

ELIGIBILITY:
This program is designed for 2nd and 3rd year university students.
 DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:
An internship at Daimler is a three-month in-house training program providing practical work experience supported by skilled managers. All internships will be offered for 3 months from June to August 2008.
FIELDS OF EXPERIENCE:
Daimler provides high quality internship positions for Arab students who satisfy the internship criteria and are nominated by the YAL organization. The internship gives students an insight into one of these fields: sales/marketing, finance/controlling, information technology, purchasing/ logistics, quality assurance or corporate development. As part of the internship, special events for students will take place, e.g. plant tour, small circle discussions.

1. Engineering IT Systems
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Tasks and job Summary:
Inside view of IT infrastructure and IT processes and state of the art technologies in IT.
A possible field of study for the internship is to participate in one of the following activities:
- Enabling of a Siteminder Integration - Single Sign On User Authentication.
- Enabling a Pilot for a Data Warehouse to enable Skill Management.
2. International Sales Fleet Board
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Tasks and job Summary:
Project work: Develop sales strategy to increase penetration of Fleet Board in the ME region
- Support operative sales activities
3. Future Perspectives of the Automotive Environment Middle East
Location: Berlin, Germany
Tasks and job Summary:
- Describe possible future developments in the region
- Derive business options for Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks, and the Bus division.
The internship is designed to develop the basic analysis of the business environment for one focus country
4. Purchasing Raw Materials (Steel, Precious Metals, Aluminum)
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Tasks and job Summary:
- Performing raw material market studies together with responsible buyers
- Working on the establishing of a centralized Precious Group Metals
- Procurement purchasing function
- Data collection for internal Raw Material Fact book
5. Knowledge management for engineering IT
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Tasks and job Summary:
- Analysis of current knowledge management and transfer models/instruments; adaptation to ITC/D’s needs
- Analysis and evaluation of available tools for knowledge management
- Definition of implementation strategy for ITC/D
- Documentation of results
6. Engineering IT Tools
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Tasks and job Summary:
- Support of Global roll out of engineering data, management and CAD-Systems, to new users and departments in Asia, Europe and America
- Support all kind of project management activities
