| Q: What is Young Arab Leaders and what do they do? |
YAL is an action-oriented, not-for-profit organization that brings together the top-achievers from across the region as well as leading Arab men and women living abroad.
It offers unique networking activities, gives the members access to global leaders and decision-makers and provides customized leadership development opportunities both for the members and for up-and-coming future leaders.
Each year, YAL members commit to implementing an Action Plan that includes targets for developing youth in their countries and in their specific sectors. These targets include sourcing great numbers of educational and training opportunities for Arab youth in as many sectors as possible.
The aim of these projects is to expand the vibrant segments of Arab economies through the development of leading young talents.
YAL has Chapters in different stages of development across the Arab region. The regional Head Office is in Dubai, UAE.

YAL’s mission is to improve the state of the Arab world by creating an environment for future leaders to grow and develop across all sectors of Arab society.
YAL’s mission is to bring global opportunities and worldview to the youth of our Arab world and take forth our region’s exceptional human capital to broaden their horizon and make them global leaders in their chose fields. We will devote our time, energy and knowledge to the development of the Arab world

| Q: Who are the beneficiaries of YAL’s programs? |
The YAL programs are designed for the benefit of youth between the ages of 20 and 40 with varied backgrounds and expertise yet with the following qualities common amongst all:
- Commit to return to their country and contribute to the socio-economic development of their country through implementing new skills and knowledge acquired from the program.
- Has a track record of excellence and achievement at work or university, and the prospect of becoming a leader in his/her chosen field.
- Demonstrate at an interview that they possess the personal qualities to benefit from the program and use it to succeed in the future.
- Have a clear idea how their participation will benefit their country upon their return.

| Q: What need does YAL fulfill? |
While historically Arabs were achievers, the Arab youth of today are not as proud of being associated with their Arab culture. They need more motivation to achieve than their predecessors did.
YAL is based on the belief that the success of future development initiatives and the effective integration of the Arab world into the global economy comes from our most important natural resource – the youth.
To ensure their abilities to carry forward, we need to support the youth by providing them the necessary skill sets and knowledge and the confidence to believe in themselves as competitive players in the global economy.

YAL has 500 members who have helped raise over $6.3 million since inception in 2004.
YAL has conducted 4 Global Action Forums and 3 Annual Forums.
YAL has set up chapters in 6 Arab countries.

| Q: Who qualifies to be a Young Arab Leader? |
The Young Arab Leaders must hold prominent positions of responsibility and have envisioned extraordinary achievement for themselves. They are heads of private and non-profit organizations, leading public figures, and academics. They believe that their efforts today can have an impact on their communities, countries and the region as a whole.
Membership is open to men and women who are Arab or of Arab origin. Members must be below the age of 43 in the year of nomination. They are committed to playing an active role in the development of the Arab world. YAL members are nominated by existing members. They must satisfy extensive membership criteria measuring their accomplishments and leadership position.

| YAL is a non-profit organization. Most of the budget is covered through membership fees. Partner corporations usually cover the project costs along with YAL.
